Send a Navisworks model as one file that opens anywhere

Publish from inside Navisworks Manage or Simulate with the add-in, so the model never leaves your PC, or upload an .nwc. Either way the result is one HTML file with the federated model, element properties, measuring, sections and markups built in, for people who have no Navisworks at all.

How it works

  • Drop the file on the Create page. No account is needed for the open formats; Revit, DWG and Navisworks need an account with tokens.
  • A minute or so later you download one HTML file. That file is the whole viewer: the geometry, the properties, the tools.
  • Send it. It opens in any modern browser, on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with nothing to install and no login. It works with the internet switched off.

What the person you send it to can do

  • Orbit, pan and zoom; select elements and read their properties.
  • Measure distances, angles and diameters with snapping.
  • Cut sections, walk through at eye height, save views.
  • Pin comments and markups, then export a review report or spreadsheet back to you.

Two ways to create it from Navisworks

  • The Navisworks add-in (included with every membership) publishes the model you have open, on your own machine, from the Udraft tab in Navisworks Manage or Simulate. The model is never transmitted; only a small token check goes out, and a creation is 70 tokens flat. Navisworks Freedom cannot load add-ins of any kind, so the add-in needs Manage or Simulate.
  • Upload an .nwc on the Create page. It is read through Autodesk's cloud under Udraft's account and deleted afterwards; the viewer comes back as a download. An .nwc creation is 150 tokens minimum, metered by processing time, and comes with the Studio pack and above or the Team membership and above.

.nwd, .nwf and .nwc

From inside Navisworks, any of them. The add-in publishes whatever is open: a published .nwd, an .nwf with its linked files, or an .nwc, since Navisworks has already read it. For an upload, .nwc only. A published .nwd is usually locked by whoever published it, so it cannot be read outside Navisworks, and an .nwf holds no geometry at all, only pointers to other files. If all you have is an .nwd, open it in Navisworks Manage or Simulate and publish with the add-in, or export an .nwc per discipline and upload that.

What the recipient gets

  • The federated model as one file: every discipline's items selectable, with the properties Navisworks shows, and the file each element came from.
  • Measuring between disciplines, sections through the lot, saved views to send people to, and comments and markups that come back as a report.
  • Works offline, on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, with nothing to install: the coordination model goes to site, to the client and to the subcontractor without a licence at any of them.

What it costs

70 tokens flat through the add-in, 150 tokens minimum for an .nwc upload; tokens never expire and start at A$17 for 150. Full details on the pricing page; how the add-in signs in and what it sends is on the security page.

Examples

Made by the service. Open the viewer in a new tab, or download it beside the model it came from.

Try it on your own model

Open formats convert free with no account; Revit, DWG and Navisworks need an account with tokens. One self-contained HTML file: nothing to install, nothing to host, works offline, small enough to email.
